I think my largest spot is showing signs of regrowth, but the hair is very pale and fine. I have dark hair. Can this be my hair growing back?

Very good treatments for all types of hair loss and lovely welcoming staff.
They have branches all over the UK.

Four months later, I have good news! All of my spots (7 in total) have regrowth and now in my original hair color. I had a really stressful time when my hair started to fall of, so I hope it stays on for a while now that things are OK.

So for me, white hair was good news. :)

Hi Nordica,

Congratulations!!

My daughter (3 years) is having alopecia aerata for about 10 months now.

We did not try treatments in the beginning as the sports were smaller. From last 4-5 months spots grew bigger and she started losing lot of hair. We consulted Naturopath and started off with wheat gluten free diet and supplements along with cream prescribed by Dermatologist. Within a month (end of July) we observed small white hair grown on her forehead. I was really excited and hoped that we'd see much hair growth and change in hair color and thickening. But after 2 months, I still see the same vellus white peach type of hair which is very hard to see unless I see from particular angle its not visible. Was that your experience too? When did you observe hair strengthening and much regrowth? Any advice and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

Shrinivas

Hi! I didn't try any treatment at all. I lost hair and had new spots over a 6 months period. The first one, was the one which got biggest, about 12x10 cm (luckily, it was located in my neck). The small ones grew back pretty fast, and they all had normal hair from day one. The large one did not, and is still partly bold, after 10 months. The white vellus hair turned dark after about 8-9 months or so, and the hairgrowth is coming back from the "edge" of the spot, and into the middle. So the only bold spot i have is now the size of a medium sized coin.

Sorry to hear about your little daughter. :)

Now it's been 14 months since the first big spot appeared, and it's all covered inn brown hair. :D All 7 spots are covered now, and the only set back is one new spot in ny neck. But is only one and it's not expanding to fast, so I'm not as upset as last year.

Hy scalp hair has been growing in for quite awhile now. Several years in fact.

However, it's still not a full head of hair, there are no bald patches I can feel or see. Just white hair and missing hair...

As for the rest of my body hair or lack there of it's pretty sparse dark and white to translucent in color.

So random and unpredictable...

I am dealing with AA for 25 years - and thank god successfully until today. But I am treating, or rather fighting it during the last 14 years. From my experience the white vellus hair is not a sign of healthy regrowth but rather a sign that the disease is still active to a certain degree. After persistant white regrowth it might turn into terminal regrowth - but only sometimes. I had white regrowth during times when did not treat the disease or used topical steroids. Instead I had immediate terminal regrowth when I used topical immunmodulators instead (an irritant agent, such as Anthralin). One might try this, depending on which agent is causing the most efficient allergic reaction (maybe DCP). The allergic reaction is shutting down the disease. But I have to say that I made sure to never loose more than 25% of my hair, so I might not be a good example anyway.
