I'm experiencing unprecedented regrowth, and want to hear about your similar experiences. I have had AU for almost 4 years now, first onset being in my mid-thirties. Possibly there was a link between my stressful job and the hair loss -- I've been away from that situation now for almost a full 3 years. I've been using turmeric (golden paste - supposedly good for anti-inflammation) in the past few months and that's all I've been doing differently than normal. I have tried about everything for varying periods of time over the last few years!

I now have patches of thick, dark hair coming in all over my head, (not connected...yet?) and I'm growing eyelashes and a bit of body hair here and there. I know from reading, not to be too optimistic or get attached, as it comes and goes. But this is something I haven't seen before, and it's all coming in at once.

What are your experiences with regrowth and AU?

Have you ever used the turmeric capsules? And what was the outcome?  thanks!!

No, but I have read mixing and cooking it with a pure oil and black pepper makes it absorb better. Here's the recipe:http://deeprootsathome.com/how-to-make-use-turmeric-golden-paste/

Although I understand your reluctance to be overly optimistic, I am so happy for you.  Thanks for sharing your recipe for golden paste.  And thanks for sharing your success.  It boosters the hope we all carry!  I have FFA which is supposedly incurable but I refuse to let hope die.  Keep us updated on your progress.

Thanks so much for the encouragement, Deb :) Best of luck to you as well!

that's wonderful news!!! congrats , I hope and pray it continues for you.

Thank you!!

I have been giving my daughter (12 with AA) cherry tumeric tablets for 6 months now and have noticed considerable regrowth. I am not sure that it's the tumeric as she does have 1 new patch, it's very small and more thinned out rather than bald.

Will keep up the tumeric though as I don't think it can do any harm ;-)
I've had au for about 2 years. I am not using anything and my lashes grew back twice. I have them now. Other hair has grown back but nothing yet on my head.

Interesting. Are your lashes itchy where it regrows? Mine is... it's odd :)

Hey Iv not had Alopecia for long but last year (at 27) all my head hair fell out in ph oasis pattern and I was totalis for 6 months. I didn't expect any re growth tbh since the loss was so severe but Iv started PUVA treatment and in the last few months it has grown back on about 75% of my head and still filling in (touch wood!). It could just be random and I'm not relying on it yet- still wearing a wig as its patchy. It's funny cos naturally I am strawberry blonde but my re growth is very dark brown and thick (after being white and thin at first). Alopecia is the most unpredictable and baffling thing ever! I also suffer from digestive issues (not diagnosed) but have done all my life and can't see any difference. Don't buy the stress thing, I was no more stressed than in previous times in my life. Only thing was I had a nasty virus about a month before the loss started, had an awful sore throat that lasted 3 weeks and I very very rarely get ill cos I have a good immune system. Could just be one of the things, same as the re growth! Hope it continues and wish everyone else luck too

This is interesting. I will try this recipe for turmeric paste also. I agree that alopecia (and inflammation) in general is closely tied to both stress and diet (digestion). I have had AU for 5 years and had some regrowth in my first year when I was on a very strict diet. I could not maintain the diet and eventually lost the regrown hair. I have come to be at peace with it on some level now as it is alot easier to maintain a bald head than having to worry about shaving my head regularly. I did get microblading done for my eyebrows though and am very pleased with the results. It would be nice to have a good solution for eyelashes.

Hi Molly

oof holding on so hard for things to be different is exhausting.

i know that game so well

lost hair at 12 now 28

my advice is

yeah people are gonna stare at you, that's the world we live in

but you can begin to take ownership of when and where

second piece of advice is buy some wigs and turbans

because then you have the control - if you feel like being like hey world im bald, yeah you are gonna make heads turn, so be in the mood for dealing with questions and stares, that kind of mood for me is like usually at a pool or beach andi  just wnt to swim and dont care.

if you feel like being more anonymous- oof the freedom in anonymity..... go for a wig that day.

turbans are somewhere inbetween - i have a million!

ive tried every single treatment

the only treatment that's helped is acceptance.
