Hello,
I have been diagnosed with this type of Alopecia about a year ago. I have since stopped all chemical treatments including relaxers. I see a professional stylist for conditioning treatments every 2 wks yet it seems my troubled area has spread from the back to the top of my head. My scalp looks white and scaly after a fresh shampoo. Does anyone know if this condition will spread or how to stop it? I receive steroid injections at my derm; however, she can't seem to advise me on how to stop this condition from spreading all over my head. The area affected most is in the back of my head and my scalp seems tougher, more leathery and a different color, more beige. Has anyone experienced such symptoms or know how to avoid this condition from worsening. Its been 2 yrs since I've had a relaxer, I see my stylist and dermatologist regularly yet this condition still seems to be worsening. Help!!!

@DeZ Thank you so much for the encouragement, I greatly need it! I've been getting relaxers ever since my teenage yrs and I'm now 35 & although it's been a couple of yrs since my last relaxer, I'm sure the damage has already been done. Now I'm just frustrated b/c I can't seem to determine how to stop the condition from worsening. You're so right about doing my own research b/c I've spent a small fortune with my stylist and derm, yet still it's not improving. These groups, chats and discussions have already been a great deal of help. I'm anxious to speak with individuals experiencing the same issues. Thanks again for your support.
