Scary - sorry to post but hair loss moved onto pubic areas now as well :-(

I have low ferritin under 10 atm and has been around the 10 point and under for nearly 2 years, hairs been getting worse and worse, the crown is thin but the front has lost some as well and at the back under layers are all short and thin but now I have noticed that my pubic area is thinning and getting very upset.  Got not much by way of help from the medical profession yet, just told could be the ferritin and keep taking the iron but as you can imagine now finding that is has moved on i am :-(   

Try to keep calm but its so hard when loosing it all.

This is a very scary thing to be going through.  You posted this almost a year ago, so perhaps you have found some answers by now.  I just want to say that, based on my research, hair thinning in areas other than the scalp is not likely to be attributable to Androgenic Alopecia.  This is very positive!  It means that your hair can probably regrow, even if it takes time to identify why it has been falling out.  To increase the absorption of iron, have you tried taking it with Lysine and vitamin C?  Best of luck to you.
