Should I wait till after my vacation to shave my head? Please help if you can!

Hello,
for the last couple years I have been struggling with my already thin hair thinning even more. A few months ago my hair loss sped up aggressively and I can now clearly see my scalp on the top of my head through the remaining hairs. Today is august 8th and I am leaving august 18 which is a sunday for a friends wedding in Hawaii=)I am super nervous and a little scared so I was thinking I would wait to shave my head until that saturday before I left because I then I would have a whole week to get a little comfortable with my new look before returning to work. I don't typically have sensitive skin but I have never shaved my head so I don't know how my skin will react. The last think I want to have happen is have major scalp irritation when I am on vacation for a wedding in Hawaii (where I have never been). So I am wondering should I just brave it out and do it in the next couple days so that if there is irritation it will have some time to repair itself? Or is there something special I can do to prevent scalp irritation? I am going to a salon to have my head shaved b/c I am too nervous to do it myself this first time around.

I really appreciate any thoughts you might have!!

Do it IN Hawaii, on a memorable beach or mountain, AFTER the wedding!

Hey Jamie, could you get a topper? I love mine and wish I had found them years ago. Confidence is bursting out and I was pretty confident b4 even with REALLY fine and thin hair.
You are stunning and with or without hair you will look great. Its nice to glam up with a nice dress and some makeup to bring out your eyes............ who will be looking at your head??
My friends never noticed how thin my hair was but wen I look in the mirror I see a balled woman staring back? This prob not helping you at all lol.
