I'm wondering how often you wash your synthetic wigs. I have worn mine for 18 days. The wig care recommendation from the shop I got it from said to wash it once a month if I wear it everyday, all day. I do not use any styling products on it. I also work indoors and rarely wear it outdoors, so sweating is limited.

How often do you wash your synthetic wig?

How do you know when it is time to wash it?

Any input would be helpful!

Hi,
I typically wash mine every 3 to 4 weeks. I was told from the saleswoman when I bought my first wig to wash it once a month. Its funny, one of my coworkers can always tell after I wash my wig. I go into work the next day and she always says "did you wash it". I can tell when it is time myself but I also keep track because I have several different ones that I wear. I can tell because it seems to get kind of greasy from running my hands through it over time. I suggest try to go a month but you might not be able to go that long. Good luck! Also.. wash in cold water, not warm or lukewarm.
I actually wash mine every couple of weeks, because it NEEDS it. It starts to look greasy and lifeless, and I notice the longer strands seem to tangle more easily. I am very gentle with it, use cold water for wash & rinse, and very gently press the excess water out on a towel before placing on a wig stand to air dry. Brush it out with a wide-tooth comb or wig brush BEFORE to wash it and never brush it while wet. Brushing even when dry must be gentle.
Washing does seem to shorten the life span of the wig, so I would suggest having a spare or two to switch off with to give the others a rest.
i was told to wash mine every week, as i sweat i feel this is better as the wig inside may get yucky, is this too often to wash, is that how mine last just over 2months, ??
i wash mine usually once a week or depending upon my activity coz sometimes it is much comportable to wear it when you know its just been washed. i wash it with roomtemp. water and let it dry by itself without combing it while it is still wet to prevent damaging the wig.
Yes, I wash mine every 2-3 wks in cool water! Rinse, roll in towel to blot excess water, shake out and spritz with a special wig conditioner. You can hang it upside down to dry. At least that's what I can do with the style of wigs i have.
