I just found out last week that I have Alopecia.  I do not know much about it and have been trying to do as much research as possible. But have been coming up short on that end as well.....  I knew that my hair had been getting thin, but never even knew that I had a balding spot forming! The Dr's found that when I went in for my Migraine head aches. So they took a Biopsy and yes, it came back as Alopecia.

I have lots of questions- Like should I stop dying my hair?? I was told that I needed to cut my hair- My hair is to my butt now, and I do pull on it and shut it in the car :(  So they said I need to cut it to limit as much wear and tear as possible. Can I wear it up? Do I need to put it up or in a braid while I sleep? What does it mean when I start burning and itching  on the scalp a lot with some pain?

Any help would be great!!

Thank You!!

Thank you so much Kelly for responding. I do think cutting my hair shorter will help it look fuller, except for the very, very thin top! I am definitely having the burning and itching right now. Hopefully it will stop soon.  I guess the most scary thing for me is the not knowing when I will wake up with a chunk of hair gone.... I heard that the wigs now are so nice and you would never know!  I would not even know where to start!  Thank you again, Hope you have a great evening!!
