We are new to this world of alopecia and alopecia world.  My daughter who is almost 19 found a spot in Sept that doubled in size to a now 2 inch by 2 inch spot.  We are seeing regrowth.  As probably is typical with most of you, the original doctor stated the facts but didn't seem too concerned.  The first dermatologist, the same thing with presripts we chose not to fill as the pharmacist said biotin would do just as good.  We now have an appt with another dermatologist to get more info now that we know more about the disease and what to ask.  We are wondering if we should push for steroid injections?  We are not medically trained but I am wondering if we treat this area will the body say, "ok let's go find another area to kill the hair follicles" and therefore we push the disease into continuing.  Any input from those that may have heard this from doctors?  Her appt is this coming Thursday.

We are also addressing her nutrition trying to reduce/cut out sugar, white flour, processed foods and gluten and at the same time adding more vitamin supplements in addition to biotin - D3, GLA, Vitamin B, and emergenC.  We have scheduled an appt with an immunologist thinking maybe a food allergy is triggering the inflammation.  Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thank you!
