Steroid injections and meds

I am looking for some advice and thoughts on steroid injections and other meds I am on.
I have been getting the steroid injections in my head every 4-6 weeks since Dec. 2011. It seems that I will see minimal regrowth in the areas of the injections and then it seems there are new spots missing in other areas. Does anyone have any suggestions as to if I should continue or stop the injections? Also, has anyone been on Prednizone and what are some of the side effects of this med. that you have experienced? I have taken it and seem to have gained a few pounds but also having stomach issues that I have not had in the past.

I had the steroid injections when I was 13. I believe I went twice for them. They did nothing. I am not going to try any more medicine. I was a guinea pig back in the 90's....no more for me. I am happy with how I am.

I think I am done with them too! I have had so many of them that I think it may be causing more damage then good :( How did you learn to cope and accept yourself with no hair? I am 37 and have always had long thick blonde hair and i don't even want to look in a mirror or go to work.

I have had a very supportive family growing up, and a loving husband who tells me I am beautiful. I say it is just hair. Alopecia has shaped me to who I am today. I am thankful for it. I look at the positives rather than the negatives of the whole thing. I go to work everyday and my coworkers accept me how I am because I have a positive attitude. If they don't or if someone stares at me or calls me names. That is their problem not mine because I am happy being bald and beautiful. Look at yourself in the mirror! I am sure you are very beautiful. Hair is just hair and that is all that it is. If you are beautiful on the inside it will show whether the hair is there or not! Becca, you are a beautiful person!

I did the steroid injections for a year, every 2 weeks I think. I had the same results as you- just minimal improvement and the alopecia was growing faster. I gave up on them and let the rest of my hair fall out.

There isnt much advice I can give because everyone responds differently to treatments. I am currently on Anthralin, but havent been getting good results.
