I still have hair..not enough to hold a wig on with clips, but too much to use wig tape. Tape was a painful disaster and didn't work at all.
I have a super small head so nothing stays on well. Is there anyone here who has gone through this stage? What did you do? I do have regrowth that has stayed in to the point its now about an inch and a half long. I don't want to loose it just yet by shaving.
I don't know much about wig types out there and every place around here are just set on selling their products and not helping \and everything I try is not working for me. Is shaving pretty much my only option at this point to get a good wig that I will love?

I am a huge fan of Forever Young synthetic wigs. I purchase them from VogueWigs.com - an absolutely amazing deal. I am not big on the maintenance, so spending on $40 on a wig is perfect for me. They are a little shiny right out of the package, but a little baby powder (very very light dusting and good brushing) makes the shine very natural. I brush them out and hang them upside down for a couple days to get more volume and correct any crease in the crown that may be there from being folded in the packaging. I see in your picture that you have/had long hair. I would recommend the 'Vintage Vixen' in color 27/613... you'll love it. Low maintenance, very soft full stretch cap - no clips, combs, or glue/lace. I have a very petit head and all of their wigs are a perfect fit.

This would be the best first step. You won't be spending a lot of money, so you can afford to 'play' until you find just what you like.

Please take a look at my pictures, if you like any of the 'styles' I can tell you which wig it is and what I do to get the 'look'.

Good luck :) believe me I know what an adventure the world of wigs can be, I am all self taught because I never had the courage to reach out for help... I spent entirely too much money before I finally learned what I like - I've tried everything.
Hey girlfriend...I have always been thinking about the Forever Young wigs because price-wise they surely don't break the bank and thinking, if they don't work out, I am not out a ton of money, right? So what color is the 27/613? My real hair is more like a color 613, but just a tad bit more yellow. Is there any red tones in this combination, I think the 27 has them? I too ...small head..Does the crease really "correct"?? What styles do you have and any pictures of you in them??? Thank you sooo much. I, too, have just realized I also love Adele's voice!!!!
I actually found a product called "it stays" and it is a wig adhesive. it really works. My wig used to shift during the day but now it doesn't budge until I take it off. I have about a 1/4 inch of hair or a little longer right now until I trim it again and it sticks really well to that. It washes off with water very easily too. I just put it on my front hairline. Check it out, it works.
Tighten the wig elastic.
Gosh, I totally know what you're going through. It's taken me 5 years to find the wig that works for me.
First, I wore little wiglet pieces, when I still had a good amount of hair. Then I had to switch to full wigs: starting with the monofil wigs with clips. I hated them because they didn't hold well and looked so unnatural! Then, I discovered lace wigs and adhesive. I was so happy to find something that held better and looked more natural. BUT- the tape residue would always bleed into the lace, ruining the wig in as little as 3 months.
Long story short- the one I found works for me is the lace wig with 'THIN SKIN'. It's a thin plastic perimeter that grabs onto your skin without adhesive! (Well, when it's custom fit for your head). I only put a little tape at the ear flaps and the nape just to be safe, and then I'm good to go. The tape doesn't bleed through and it's sooo easy to take off and on. Of course, this works for me because I have the ophiasis pattern where I'm completely bald around the hairline.

It doesn't sound like you have hairloss around the perimeter, but I thought I'd mention that this option exists. I found out about it from a Youtube video (of all things). If you search there, you can see what thin skin looks like and see if that option would work for you too. I can testify that it totally changed my life.

Good luck on your search!
