Ive had alopecia for about 7 years now, ive always been the type to keep my hair nice and styled i loved my hair but when i got alopecia and lost most of my hair i felt like i lost everything...i lost friends..quit sports and couldnt wait to get out of school..i wore and ugly wig throughout out highschool that was pretty obvious but had no choice, i now wear the virtual reality wig which is not cheap but kinda worth it..i had to drop out of college and get a job just so that i could afford it..alopecia changed everything about me but made me a stronger person and kind of a jerk lol being bald still has me kinda depressed and down.. im 20 and still cant deal with it

Don't forget Sergio that you are so much more than your hair. I hope that you get to go back to College and follow your dreams.
As far as your so called friends go - they must not have been true friends if they didn't stick by you. Why quit sport? Has it affected your muscles? You can go back to sport. Build your body - be strong.

Don't forget that the nature of AA is that this time next year you could have a full head of hair. You just don't know what is around the corner. In the meantime - make the most of your life. Enjoy all other aspects of your life.
Best wishes for a bright future
Bro, you look like an awesome dude; don't let yourself get beat down by what others may or may not think.

Tough on them if they can't cope with it. Start checking out some of the famous alopecian men on the web. Sense the awesomeness, the uniqueness. You carry that too bro. Whether you choose to wear a wig or not; its cool but don't ever feel like you have to apologise for yourself or hide yourself away.

You are a man. Let them feel the weight of your presence; no apologies.
Sergio,

I couldnt agree more with what others have replied. I have been dealing with alopecia universalis for about 8 years now and I was not dealing with my alopecia as well as you are when I was your age. Do not let alopecia hold you back from you enjoy and dream most about your life. For alopecians like us, hair comes and go but whatever is true to the heart and soul remains forever. Yes, I do still have my ups and downs occasionally, eventhough I am confident and bald in the public, I still get stares and giggling occasionally and it does hurt me. Alopecia is a journey that many of here cannot avoid but we are empowered to choose the path of the journey itself, a path that leads us to be a better person where people will notice our presence and absence in the society OR a path that is somewhat less exciting and less self-satisfaction. Sergio, I'm sure you're on the right path, occasional bumpy ride along the journey in alopecia is common, but arent we all blessed to know that we're not alone...:) take care Bro. You'll be alright.

Strive ahead for a better future! and let no how many or how little hair decide it...instead let your passion and heart determine what lies ahead of you. Despite being bald, alopecians still possess a massive capacity to determine our own future! You can do it! Give yourself a pat on shoulder occasionally!

God bless.

Joshua
