I bought a hat with hair from headcovers.com, like I always do. It arrived kind of weird, though. One side curls under, and the other curls up. I know that over time, it doesn't curl up so much anymore, but in the meantime I was wondering if I could iron it?

Can I use an iron to curl the hair under, or are you not supposed to ever iron synthetic wigs?

If the hair is synthetic, I would be leery about using any kind of flat iron. I have heard that if the iron is set on a super low heat setting it's ok, but because its new, I'd be scared to risk it. I wore synthetics for 18 years, and I used to have this problem quite a bit; where I'd open the box only to find a stupid bend in one area of the wig that drove me nuts--this called "cold set" and it can happen when the wig was placed in a funny position in the box at the factory. This can be annoying, but you can try to remedy it by "training" the hair to go in the other direction. If one area bends out and you want it to either bend in or lay strait, I would take an old fahioned curler or roller, wet the hair, and use the curler to bend the hair in the opposite direction it is currently going (in other words, curl it in the direction you want the hair to go). This used to work for me, although sometimes I had to do it several times and/or I had to be careful not t o leave the curler in too long otherwise it would curl the hair too much. Another idea is to use gentle steam rollers. I have never personally tried this, but I have heard that steam, not direct heat from an iron, is ok on synthetics. Whatever you do, I hope it works for ya. Good luck!
No....heat totally ruins synthetic wigs!
A garment steamer with water reservoir, hair brush and taut pulling as you steam will do it.

I copied the steamer search link from goodshop.com where 1500 companies and 90,000 nonprofits like BGDL are "doing good and saving the world." (fyi Goodshop has Petco, Clinique and Staples special coupons this week).
Here's the BGDL toolbar to make purchases
