My sister and I both have alopecia (she has areata and I have universalis). We have both been looking forever for a wig to wear in the summer that (1) is comfortable enough to wear all day without a wig cap, (2) won't make us hot, and (3) keeps our hair off our faces and necks. We found exactly what we were looking for this week! It's called a Wunder Wig. You can get one with clips (to attach to your hair) if you have areata and still have a fair amount of hair, or the woman who makes the wigs (Yonit) can remove the clips if you have no hair or not enough to use the clips. She also sewed in side baby hairs for me, since I am totally bald. It looks very natural, as you can see in the pic. If you have universalis, you could also request this.

There's not much info about the Wunder Wig online (reviews, cost, etc.) and we've both been burned before ordering bad products online that we couldn't return. So we waited until we were in Montreal, where we could try one on for ourselves before deciding to buy. (There are apparently also representatives who sell them in the US and elsewhere.). We thought we'd share our experience and a few pics, in case anyone is considering this wig.

First, it costs around 980$ (US dollars). It is totally worth it. The hair is unprocessed human hair, and just lovely. The wig itself has to be worn with a headband, which is great for the summer. It's incredibly light, feels very secure, and is the most comfortable wig either of us have ever worn (so that's about 15 wigs between the two of us). There's no comparison. We both usually take our wigs off as soon as we get home at the end of the day, but this wig is so comfy and light you really don't remember you're wearing it. The big test of this wig was a few days ago when I took my son to a trampoline park. I bounced for an hour and my wig was totally secure and didn't make me at all hot. So you could certainly wear this to the gym or the pool.

The owner is also a pleasure to work with and will go out of her way to help you. She won't pressure you into buying anything you aren't comfortable with and will even accept returns for online purchases. Here is a link to her website where you can find more pictures and contact info.

We are both so thrilled to have discovered this unique style of wig. It will definitely make our summers much more enjoyable.
