Hello All,
I am in need of a wig that works for summer. I work outside in lovely So Cal which is 100 degrees sometimes. I am sweating like crazy under my wigs which is ruining my make up (drawn on eye brows and eyelashes). Any one know of some wigs that can let your head breath? I am also kinda convinced that since my hair fell out the hair follicles have turned into sweat glands because I have never sweated this much before!!

Hi
I'm afraid all wigs are going to be hotter than no hair or your own growing hair...as annoying as that is it is the truth. All wigs have features and benefits and it is just a matter of working out what is going to be best for you and your needs.
I'm an advocate of Freedom Vacuum wigs. One of the reasons my daughter and I decided on a Freedom Wig was because of it's ability to keep her comfortable. Sadly, it is still a wig, but for me and her it's a wig that works. One of the worst things with sweating and wig wearing is when the perspiration and oils go into the cap and hair of your wig...and for many wigs this is destructive for the cap and causes itching. Many wigs are difficult to wash so it all becomes a bit of a pfaff.
With a Freedom Wig the cap is made with 100% medical silicone. This means that when you perspire the perspiration is able to pass through the cap as vapour (in normal everyday circumstances). The cap takes on the heat of your body...which means if you are running a marathon or are outside on a very hot day...you will be as hot as everybody else and you will sweat. But the great thing about a vacuum wig is it is able to be removed easily, and wiped clean, keeping you, your head and the cap hygenic and comfortable. The hair always looks great.
There is a lot written about heat and wigs....but the truth is they all have their weaknesses. You just need to weigh up what you really require. Anything you put on your head is going to retain heat, even a scarf...you just need to work out what option is going to be best for everyday life and what will make you the most comfortable around how you present yourself to the world.
Good luck with everything.

Hi Cstarr,
Why don't you try wearing a wig liner made of natural fiber such as cotton under your wig. A cotton wigliner will allow your head to breath and will prevent you from sweating. I had the same issue and when someone told me that it worked for them I tried it and haven't had the problem ever since. I feel a whole lot cooler and comfortable wearing my wig liner.
This is the link to the product, I hope it works for you.

Good Luck!
