Hello, I just started wearing a synthetic wig two months ago (Infatuation by Raquel Welch), but it's already getting frizzy in back at the bottom from rubbing against my coat or turtleneck sweaters. Is there any way to remedy this, short of cutting it off? This wig is only two months old! Any advice is appreciated!

Hello! I had the same problem (I also have a Raquel Welch). I went back to the store (where I purchased it) and they suggested in addition to washing it weekly (mine is long as well) to use a "leave in conditioner" every other night...just a few sprays after throughly brushing it and letting it air dry over night. It seems to help; however, mine seemed to be pretty damaged, I dropped it off today to have it serviced (deep conditioned, reset, etc.) and they said that should improve the "frizzy" ends. Good luck to you and yours!

Thanks, Ill call the store where I bought it (it was local and partially paid for through my insurance) and see if they can service it.  I do have some spray, leave in conditioner so I'll start using it more.  I only spray it once in awhile, but I guess I should be using it much more often.  Thanks for replying, this has helped me!

How ever did you get insurance to cover a wig?  What insurance do you have?

My insurance is Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and they pay up to $500 a year for a wig if you have cancer or alopecia. I work for a large accounting firm in Chicago.

I have BCB$ insudance as well, but they will not pay for a wig I live in Texas .

I wonder why they won't pay for mine? I am a teacher and our insurance is horrible!

I am an educator as well....hopefully, I will receive a yes!

I can highly recommend https://dresslily.com particularly if you've got mid to long hair. The wigs are made with real hair and they are very realistic.

I too have BCBS PPO ALABAMA, although I live in Tx but our insurance only pays for wigs for cancer patients, not alopecia. It gets so hot here in DFW, I really want a nicer wig but so costly.
That's not fair! Is there any way to appeal it? I had to get a prescription for a hair prosthesis and call BCBS because I had to go through a wig shop on their approved "list." Fortunately there was one about 1/2 an hour away from where I live. I'm noticing too that now that it's getting hot, the wig is getting uncomfortable. I like human hair wigs the best. More costly, but totally worth it.

I have the same insurance.  I inquired & they always told me no!  I will most definitely call on Monday to inquire once again!  Thank you so very much for sharing that info!!!

What was the process you went through to have your wig covered under insurance?

I have the same problem but found a solution. Wash the wig and air dry it then brush it out. You need a flat iron that has temperature setting put it as low as it can go. Use it as if its your real hair always keep it moving small to med sections. I have done this with every wash and it comes out looking almost new. I know they say no heat but for me it works. Try it on an old wig to test it out first.
