My dermatologist has lots of alopecia cases under his belt, so I ran this question by him not too long ago. He has used Targretin (bexarotene) with "some" benefit in patients who weren't responding adequately to DPCP. Says it's a little irritating, and shouldn't be used in pregnant women.

And here's the most recently published article showing the lack of efficacy using Latisse in patients with alopecia areata.

If you did have insurance to cover a prescription for Latisse ( bimatoprost .03% solution) it would be for a diagnosis of glaucoma or other reason to reduce occular pressure.

I asked my dermatologist about Latisse for my eyebrows which I have read online and in Alopecia World has helped people regrow eyebrows as well as eyelashes. She said there is no evidence or solid information that Latisse works on the eyebrows. I know not exactly what you asked for in your discussion, but I thought I'd throw it in there anyway.

My insurance is willing to cover a few months so I am going to try and see what happens. I work for a family run business and have a great relationship with the owners. I think that they just want to help so I figured I will try. I will keep you all posted on what happens. I have nothing to lose (no pun intended). Thank you for the comments.
