I only found this site a couple of days ago, but it seems to be the best site of this type that I can find. So, I am posting again already! I have never worn a wig and am super overwhelmed by how many different options there are. I can still get away with going without a wig, but will most likely need one soon, and I would really like to go ahead and start wearing one now to get used to it before I wake up one morning and need it.

I am just amazed by how many many different types of hair, caps, etc that wigs are available in. I am just totally confused. I know that most people here have probably dealt with this for a while, and have probably found their favorite brands by now. I am more interested in something reasonable, realistic and easy to care for, whether you still wear it or not. To summarize, I need guidance as what brand and type hair, etc, to start with.

I have done countless hours of research online and realize that I still feel clueless. I have decided that I would just like to know what specific brand you all started with.

I need to be pointed in a direction by people who know what they are talking about. I don't want to spend a fortune in case, if by some remote chance, I do not end up losing all my hair to my alopecia. If and when I do lose it all I would probably be more willing to invest more money but not yet.

If you are reading this and wear a full wig, would you mind listing the brand of your first wig, the price and just whether or not it was a positive or negative experience? No need going into detail unless you want, but again I want to find a reasonably priced,($300 or less) realistic "starter" wig, and I would like to see what is most popular with you women on this site. I would like to hear opinions on what kind of hair, cap, etc that are easiest to deal with, don't cost thousands of dollars, and are most natural looking. Also if you were buying your first wig now, would you have any recommendations of any kind?

Thank you so much to anyone who responds!

Hi

The first wig my daughter wore was a synthetic wig with a hairband attached.  For her it did ok until she got her Freedom Wig.

These were the things that she didn't feel comfortable about. She gets eczema, so she found it very itchy and uncomfortable.  It did not look overly realistic so she often wore caps and hats with it.  The hair became very frizzy quickly.

This wig did not have a brand it was sent to us free of charge from a wig company in the USA and even though it was not what we needed...it did well for the time we needed it.  (Hope that makes sense).

Good luck with everything Janis...just take your time and keep investigating. :)
