As far as I know, Artificial Hair Transplants were banned by the FDA in the USA from some pretty nasty side effects. Also the fact there was no evidence that directly related to public health didn't help the situation.

Has anyone done any research in this area?

I would be up for taking a trip to another country to have this done if the numbers and success rates were improved upon.

  1. Biofibre from Medicap Italy available since 1996 and
  2. Nido corporation from Japan since 1999.

I would even be up for developing a better answer or solution myself.

Who would consider this option?

If you have alopecia areata this option is not viable from information I have read and been told.  The reaction to your own growing hair that alopecia causes is transferred to transplanted hair...therefore it doesn't grow.

Do a little more research on this Dave as I may not have all my facts straight.

Good luck
