Hi, Friends!

I have had AA since 2014, which has been steadily increasing in severity.

Two weeks ago I discovered a picture on my phone that reminded me that I got a tick bite ONE WEEK before my first bald patch started. I never had any symptoms of Lyme disease (fever, rash) so I had never made the potential connection between the tick bite and the onset of AA.

Now, though, this tick bite feels more than coincidental. If it were the trigger to start the AA, would there be a way to "turn it off" now?

I saw my doctor and had a Lyme blood test (IgG/IgM) that was negative for Lyme.

I'm wondering:

-Does anyone have any experience with AA occurring as a result of a tick bite or of possible Lyme?

-Has anyone seen their AA resolve after antibiotic treatment associated with Lyme?

-(I'm not a doctor): Even with the negative test, I'm wondering if I should push to have a course of antibiotics to treat presumed Lyme. What if my AA is the result of the tick bite, though it didn't manifest as full blown Lyme? What if there are other, unseen, things going on in my body because of the tick bite?

Thoughts? Insight? Suggestions?

Thank you!

My son has AU for last 4 years. He recently contracted Lyme's Disease and was given a 3 week course of dioxycycline. In his case it's made no difference to his AU - he finished the course 3 weeks ago. It could of course be early days - if any regrowth happens I'll let you know.
