All the stressing about shaving my head or not.
I thought I was finally getting answers.
ugh!
I thought I'd update...
Apparently my doctor changed her mind.
Now she is saying that stress is the cause of all my symptoms.
My last appointment completely contradicted this one.
She hesitantly put me on a trial dose of spironolactone.
Besides getting whiplash from my doctor....
I went ahead and shaved my head. Its stress free and easy. (no more hiding spots)
I thought it would be hard to get use to but I really do like it.
The only down side so far is that people are nicer to me.... as if I'm sick.
I think I'm going to have to find a new doctor. er...

Hi!
I definitely contemplated the same things as you. I have alopecia areata that I was able to cover at first, but eventually it got to be too much to hide for a couple months until it reached my hairline.
I spent the past 5 months fearing going bald and worried about what I would look like bald, and whether or not I would still feel like myself without hair. As more hair fell out, the fear of going bald started to pale in comparison to seeing bare patches of scalp between long strands of hair, shampooing my hair and pulling out a ponytail worth of hair each time. So my fiance and I sat down and shaved off the rest. I had pretty instant relief - I was so scared for 5 month, of having no control over possibly being bald, so the relief came in taking control and becoming bald by choice.
