I just flew out to see my favorite sister - the one closest in age to me, and I am SOOOO sad and disappointed. She treated me like I was dirty, or diseased and contagious. I explained all about alopecia before I went, but she still wouldn't hug me, wouldn't borrow my sweater, wouldn't even touch me! Anyone else experience this reaction? And what did you do about it?

Hi, Beth.
You have gotten a lot of views and replies to this. So, if I am being redundant, forgive me. You need to tell your sister how she made you feel. We cannot control the actions of others. We can only control our own. You do not, however, have to give her a pass on the way she treated you. Let her know as nicely as you can that it was offensive and hurtful. This may not make a difference, but at least you gave her something to think about. The most important thing is for YOU to accept you the way you are. You are wise to come here for support.
Happy Holidays!

Try not to take it on board, the person is extremely ignorant and not worth knowing, unbelievable. Be kind to yourself and end the time you spend with this person as she will only drag you down. Take care, love yourself through God's eyes only........he looks into the heart and loves us unconditionally.
Just a thought. Does she possibly have OCD in some form? It may not really be all her fault in treating you that way. It could be that something in her brain just won't allow her to accept you. She can have OCD and it manifests itself in varying ways with each person. Everyone is different. Trust me, I know. I have it. People just wouldn't understand, and in some aspects, it is also hard for me to understand why I can do some things, but can't do others. I totally understand some aspects of it, but some of it makes no sense to me either. It is what it is. Just think about that one for a bit. It may not be her fault. It may be in her mind that she cannot accept you. Maybe have a talk with her and ask that of her.
This doesn't solve all the feelings but this song sure helped me through this, played this when I was feeling down, Thank You Katy Perry!
