Do you know anybody with universalis who remitted spontaneously? Doctors told me it´s very unlikely to happen, but I´m tired of side effects with allopathic medicine...

I know of one person. She remitted three times, at least one spontaneously. One time was with sulfa. Obviously this meant she relasped at least twice. She currently has her hair.
I too wonder of the true chances, I have had AU for 2.5 years.
Thanks for your reply, Amy! Is your hair loss associated with another disease? I´ve had AU for 3 years, and I have a strong intolerance of gluten (but I´m not celiac). I also have allergic rhinitis. I don´t know if these can cause hair loss, but I go on trying to find an answer to this.
Hi, AU usually occurs in isolation though people with AU often have higher incidences of seasonal allergies and even celiac. I have seasonal allergies but no autoimmune antibodies, no celiac, nothing that would "trigger" or contribute to AU. The best hope I think is the research into targeted immune therapies and contact sensitizers if you want to try to combat it. I did a lot of treatments over the years, right now I am not treating it. Good luck to you!
I also did lots of treatments, with no answer. I was tired to feel like a guinea pig, so I stopped treatments. But I go on trying to find the cause of my hairloss. Meanwhile, I´m learning to live with this "condition", and i can say that I´m knowing myself better, since alopecia.
