My son is 11 and developed Universalis over the past 6 months. He has no hair left anywhere save for a random one here and there. How likely in your experience will his hair grow back (knowing it will likely fall out again) with or without treatment of some sort. I want to know if we need to just accept this as the new normal. Thanks!

Hi Katie,
My heart aches for your son - and for you.

While you are looking for the best treatment path for your son, you may be interested in joining the group called the Children's Alopecia Project - there are chapters across the nation.  I think your son may benefit from connecting with other children with the same issue.  I know it was a lonely road for me and it made a world of difference when I met a friend who also had the condition.

Best of luck to you and your son!  I hope that all his hair grows back and stays with him for life!
