So I thought id update you all on whats been going on with me and to ask a few questions ...Im 21 and I have had AA for almost just over a year now which began while i was handing in work/exams at uni ...It started off with a small patch of hair loss on the back of my hair which grew larger in size and started getting a few smaller patches on the sides and top of my hair tried different remedys such as using garlic/onion and also tried different solutions givin to me by a specialist doctor in turkey who has come across this problem with many other people before ...the remedies such as garlic/onion did not work at all for me I have to admit i did not try it out for a long time because the smell was just unberable but the solutions given to me by the doctor seemed to have helped slightly (I will post the names of what I was given in a seperate post)... the sides and top of my hair have now tottally grown I am now left with a large patch of hair missing from the back of my hair which has been there the longest and is still there.

My question is -

Does anybody know if certain areas of the hair grow quicker/slower than other parts of the hair? The reason I ask this is I have had many patches of hair loss which all grew but the one patch on the back of my hair has never seemed to grow it is now basically just stuck to how it is it isnt getting worse or getting any better.

Wish you all the best of luck with your problems and ill keep you all updated again soon.

The back of my head has never grown back after AU about 13 years ago. So, yes, I think a person can be left with a whole area that won't grow back. My hair along the hairline still grows, but the hair is soft, sparse, wispy and white.

I just saw my sister, only two years younger, and she has long, dark, straight hair with very little gray. My brunette mother and grandmother had very little gray even until their late 70s. They did not have alopecia, and I would have been like them if not for this gene collection Life bestowed upon me! I now where a blond wig with dark roots, just to jazz up my world!
