Don't really know what category to put this in...
I have alopecia universalis. I have two kids.
About a year ago, I was watching some movie with my daughter, who was about 8. It featured a guy shaving at some point in the movie.
My daughter said he reminded him of grandpa.
I was a bit puzzled. This guy looked nothing like my father. I asked why. She said he looked like both her grandpas.
"Because he's doing that thing to his face. Both my grandpas do that."
She knows obviously that I wear a wig, has seen my bald lots of times. But I guess I had never really looked at the world from her eyes: she'd only seen one person shave. She never saw me shave, so it must have looked totally foreign to her when she saw it.
As for my son, who is older, but hasn't hit the age where he grows facial hair, I guess I'll have to take him to one of his grandparents to learn how to shave.
It is a little weird to have never shaved. My wife had some surgery at the hospital, and when she was home asked if I could help her shave her legs. I told her I'd be happy to, but I had actually never used a razor, so would have no idea what I was doing. I said if I was practicing on myself, I could feel when I made a mistake, but for her, that wouldn't be possible. She then said, no, don't help...
