What do you say when you are mistaken for chemo patient?

I'm sure this has been a topic before but I couldn't find it.

Twice this week, women came up to me at the gym.... They think of me often... Was I going through chemo? They are usually survivors. It's awkward for both of us. They feel bad for assuming I feel bad that they tell me they had cancer.I say it's alopecia and I'm lucky I'm healthy. If I'm doing hard core workout at the gym, I'm not sick. I typically wear bandanas to the gym.

This happens to me all the time. Very uncomfortable for me. Most of the time I just quickly tell them it is alopecia and move on. Sometimes they know what it is, and sometimes they don't. I really cannot believe the audacity of strangers.

I get this all the time with my daughter, I never know what to say. I call it the look.I will be in the store and someone will come near me and start talk to someone next them and then look at me. When someone finally dares the other to come ask I get, is it cancer?
