After experiencing intense, undiagnosed hair loss, my shedding is almost back to normal! Totally normal/slightly elevated at times level of hair loss per day. But recently, my hair has felt thinner than normal, even though my shedding is normal. I've been dreading it, but today I took some pictures of the crown of my head and this is what I see

(Don't worry, those are just links to pictures. They won't harm your computer.)

So my question is...even though I have normal amounts of hair loss, my hair seems to have stopped growing with no signs of regrowth!

My dermatologist said that it isn't genetic because my mother still has all her hair, and the shedding was way too extreme as opposed to gradual over time. She also said it was more likely to be alopecia, but I've never had patches or bald spots.

Please, I'm desperate for answers. I just want to know if I'll ever get my hair back.
