Is there any think we should know on caring for the scalp with total alopecia? Soaps? Natural soaps? Still use shampoo? Best sunscreen? Moisturizer?

I always bought very mild and various organic soaps and cleansers for my twins. Now they're 15 and one is very particular and has dry skin like me. He lives with a jar of Cetaphil-that's what he finds works best. I often buy facial cleansers for them to use on their head-get Avalon, Alba, Aubrey, Kiss My face and Jason products at our local food co-op or on line at Vitacost which has much lower prices and carries many natural, organic products and there are very helpful reviews.

My guys usually wear hats in the sun but also need sunscreen-I buy Aveeno and Neutrogena mostly but the boys like the coppertone and Banana Boat sprays better. Aveeno makes a nice Protect & Hydrate line, Neutrogena makes Pure & Free. There's a brand called Blue Lizard I think that's supposed to be good but I haven't tried it. The natural lines I referenced above also make sunscreen in most cases.

Thank you! I will begin looking in that direction!
My daughter looks after her scalp the same way she looks after her face. Cleans and moisturisers. She has quite dry skin. I think if you prefer not to wear a head covering sunblock is a very good idea.

Thank you! All so many new things to learn and do. I appreciate the help I really do. We live in a very rural part of NE and not many people have dealt with Alopecia. The only support group is in Omaha and that is 3 hours away. Again thank you!
