Hello
I dont have Alopecia, but my hair has been falling out rapidly lately, likely due to an unstable thyroid (trying new medication now, so we'll see). But also may be complicated by my recent starting of rogaine, which is supposed to cause initial shedding. At any rate, I am at that point where I need to where a baseball cap or a wig out in public (at least temporarily but maybe permanently, depending, which I'm ok with)
I've always had baby fine hair, and now at 54 it's quite thin. Anyway, on to my wig questions. I bought this monofiliament wig for around 250, which mostly matches my hair color and style, and I like it ok. It's not as comfortable as not wearing a wig, but I guess as far as wigs go it's pretty comfortable I think. Problem is it's way too thick. I did get a petite size as I have a small head, but it's still to big and the hair part is too thick. Can these wigs be thinned? If so how do I find the right person to do it?
Also - I've gathered from reading these posts, if I want something more comfortable I would have to shave my head so a capped wig could be glued to stuck on with tape? Is this right? And people actually sleep and shower in these? I'm trying to find the most comfortable solution going forward. Right now my head is full of hair but extremely thin. Mostly in the crown area and the sides. But thinning all over.
Thanks in advance for any insight and advice. This is a great forum.

Thank you Sophie. This is great information. Thanks for the head's up.
Wow I was looking at the Follea catalog and prices whew - so $3000 -ish for a short wig. That's quite an investment, but if it works great and you don't have to worry about it then it's worth it. That's amazing that it is so secure for you. So do you think this hair looks more natural than the synthetic wigs? The Follea is also synthetic isn't it?
oh no you're not stalking - lol. I very much appreciate any information I can get. This is all new to me. Right now I dont think I can afford the human hair route - at least for now, unfortunately. But I will continue to investigate. Thanks again
I have a solution for you and that is to use a hair wig. You can pick a best hair wig online and live your life happily.

Thank you Aimee - this is great advice. I got my wig from wigs.com and the style is 'Risk' by Ellen Wille. They had free shipping and free returns so I figured what the heck :) It's surprisingly similar to my own style and is a petite, which is good because I have a small head. And I got the color ok excepts it's a little darker than my natural. Wonder if it can be lightened a bit too. I'll ask the wig stylist when I find them !!! Thanks!!!
