Wig migraine

Hi.

Do any of you get migraines when you wear a new wig? I was so sick recently. . .headache. . .led to nausea. . .anyone get these symptoms???

I have noticed a new wig can feel a bit tighter than one we have worn a few times. I can onlu suggest you loosen up the new wig by moving the straps inside it abd put it on a wig head/block to stretch out the front section which sits on our forehead, i am guessing that is the bit that is creating a tension headache. I understand your probably getting a migraine from the smell of wigs. I personally hate the smell of them. They do not smell like normal hair did.... Or at least real one's that cost a lot didn't. It might be from the fumes.... Also you might be allergic to it.

Hi 

I think that often when you have alopecia it is possible that other allergies may exist.  You may be allergic to your wig of choice...or you could be wearing it very tight around the perimeter of your head...which would cause pain.

I would consider trying a few other options with wigs and see if those choices help.

I have worn uncomfortable wigs that caused headaches, but not to the point of migraine although I can see how if your wig is hurting your head it and you are unable to remove it that it could get to this point. I always opt for comfort first. It doesn't matter how good it looks if I can't stand it on my head for 8 hours. Traditional wig caps are too hot and very uncomfortable for me so I always check out the weight and if the cap is traditional or capless. Capless is so much better for my comfort needs. Yes, I used to get the same feeling and headaches when I started wearing a wig. I new there must be a solution which is why I looked around and found a WIGrip band which makes it all that more comfortable and prevents headaches. I hope it works for you -
