WIGJACKED on the subway in NYC.. Yeah, so, that happened!!! Girl hit me and STOLE my wig, entirely unprovoked.

Have any of you ever had anything like that happen?!

Also, have you ever been rejected for a job because you have a "look" (ie. fake eyebrows, no eyelashes - only drawn-on eyelashes, since I'm afraid of the glue for fake eyelashes)...  Do tell!

I will say that it forced me to be out in public without any hair (I just had a wig cap and a hat), but I can't say it made me face it bravely.  I ran to a wig store and got a new wig before I had to go back to my own neighborhood an potentially face anyone I know that way.  Also spent 4 hours in the police department, with cops relaying to one another that I was a cancer survivor, which was not the correct account of why I have no hair, of course... and that's only one of the reasons I don't feel comfortable being wigless.

OMG! How awful! I don't know what else to say. Are you completely without hair? You may want to start attaching your wig to your scalp with adhesive or tape. This criminal saw you as an easy mark and used the elements of surprise and ease to attack. If it had been difficult for this person to take your wig, they possibly would have run off. This is in NO way blaming you - I want to find a way to protect you from this happening again. If you're worried about how your eyebrows and eyelashes look, there's a lot of tutorials on YouTube that will help you become more at ease applying both. All women are drawing on eyebrows (some to excess!), so if you can make them look normal, you'll be OK. The glue with eyelashes is easy - you don't put the eyelashes on right away when you place the glue. The best way to become accustomed to all of this is practice, practice, practice.

My wig is usually pretty secure - I have a wig cap and actually have to wear them over my ears because my ears are hiked kind of high up on my head - so the wigs stay on pretty solidly.  I think she thought I was looking at her hair (she had a noticeable odd-fitting hair piece on that you could see the seam of, but I didn't really pay attention to that at first... until she took my wig.    I wear a hat and am not sure if she knew I had one on or if it was a surprise to her, but she did run off and if she wanted my wig that badly, I would have taken her to a wig store and bought one for her had she asked.  I think she was crazy, and I was unfortunate. Yes, btw, completely w/out hair.

I am an illustrator any can paint on almost undetectable eyebrows (and frequently get compliments on how good they look when I take the hour to do them right vs. the quick-apply drawn on variation), but the eyelashes are another story,  I can paint a good line and lash flair at the ends, but you can't replace the volume of actual lashes.  I am afraid of the chemicals in the glue since I am sensitive to everything and want to maintain the health of my eyes.  I know a lot of the glue is made with formaldehyde and not only that, I am afraid if they do grow in that the glue will pull the new lashes out.
