Hello all....my name is Mike and I have been living with AU for almost 10 yrs now....in that time I've had numerous jobs all in the manufacturing or trades area. In past 2 yrs as I grow older I have found I get many sinus issues, infections and it does affect my ability to perform and function in these types of environments. Secondly at the time AU took it's affect on me, I did lose all my finger and toe nails, all of which grew back in about a months time, but they are very weak, brittle, split and thin. In normal use they are fine and uneventful but when in a working environment that I have been use to they do become an issue on breaking down , it really just becomes a nuissane.

I'm really curious to see if there are any other people with AU that have these same issues.

Hi Mike,  I have been living with AU for 3 years now.  I lost all my hair 15 years ago when I was in nursing school but it all came right back.  This time I have noticed that I have been having a lot of sinus problems.  I think its because of not having the hairs in the nose which filter out the particles.  Also my nails are very weak.  I also have hand dermatitis from the medications that I give out...the vapors.  The weakened immune system really does affect my work performance.  One night I must have sneezed 100 times, I could barely get my work done between sneezes. LOL.  It is truly a nuisance.  So I hear you loud and clear.  I have learned that it could be worse and I am grateful that it isn't.  Have a blessed day.

Hi Mike,

I also have AU.  Started losing  my hair 3 years ago....I am now 51.  I have had numerous viruses..too many to count.  My doc believes this is from a lack of nose hairs..no filter ....and nothing to do with the immune system. I am a social worker and up until a few months ago was working in a hospital with paediatrics.  The only thing thats helpful is a flu shot and washing my hands.  It is challenging..

Oh and toenails have become weak with ridges....a drag:)
