Evan,
The date for the International Alopecia Day has already been set. It is July 17, 2010. I would like to hear from a few more people regarding the Hopkinton State Park before we finalize plans. I do think it's a beautiful place and would make for a nice day. All who are interested (or not interested), please post a response so we can get the ball rolling. Thank you everyone.
Love and Hugs,
Dotty

Correction: found out this past weekend the sailboats are only for Gold/Silver members at the Boat Rental company. However, single, double kayak's and canoes, double & foursome paddle boats all rent by the hour or day.

People can bring their own BBQ grills if they want, that way we're not limited to specific areas of the park.

Any idea what weekend this might take place so I can clear my calendar?

Evan,

That does sound like a beautiful place for a summer's day. I'm interested.

Hi All,

For the MA annual event, I'd like to suggest Hopkinton State Park http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/northeast/hpsp.htm in lieu of a picnic at Boston Commons. There are two fresh water swimming areas, boat rentals (single person kayak up to multi-person sailboats), with picnic tables and BBQ grills scattered throughout the park. It's got plenty of parking, is easily accessible from the Mass Pike, Rt 9, and 495, and it's a great setting far from the noise of the city. Hours are 8am - 8pm and access is between 5-10 dollars for the day.

I spend a lot of time there after work and on weekends during the summer, so email me with any questions

Hello Fellow Alopecians,

I am reposting my original post about our annual event as the name has changed due to a trademark. But, the concept is the same and I am really excited about this year's event. I was thinking about a picnic at the Boston Commons. What does everyone think about that?

"Hello Fellow Alopecians,
We are in the beginning stages of planning our 2010 Annual International Alopecia Day celebration. I hope to get many, many interested Alopecians in the northeast to join us this year. Last year we had 20+ people and this year we are hoping to have many more. Please keep us in mind if you were thinking about doing something for International Alopecia Day. Even if you aren't ready to be bald in public and just want to come hang out with us and spread some much needed awareness, we would love to have you join us. Last year we walked the "Freedom Trail" and called it the "Freedom from Hair" trail. We haven't finalized the where and when so if anyone has any ideas, let me know."

Love and Hugs,
Dotty

Hi Dotty and all Mass Alopecians,

I'm looking forward to participating in this year's event. sounds like the Freedom Trail was a bit hit last year, and the photos tell the story! No new ideas yet, but I'll be thinking...

Stay well,
Donna

Hi Mass Alopecians! Just moved to the Boston area in September 2009. Going to RI on the 20th for the Bald Girls do Lunch Gathering. Would love to meet alopecians in the Boston area.
