I use to have break outs with the wig because it was synthetic and I would not wear a wig cap.  Sometimes the hair irritates my face.  I started wearing a semi-thick hairnet to keep the hair out of my face.  It has helped.  Get a lot of compliments from people that it looks stylish and I am bringing back the snood(hairnet) from the 50's/60s.

I had alopecia for over 20 years. I am highly allergic to peanut butter, most peanuts, cats, mold, dust, kiwi.  As I get older the list seems to get longer.    I developed eczema in my 20's. Have flare ups when I gain the weight. Then was told it was psoriasis. Decided to start eating healthier.  Started this 10 day Green Smoothie regimen by J.J. Smith.  Seemed to help with the allergies.

anyone allergic to their wig?  I buy a variety of wigs at various pricepoints.  they all have cause some itching or irritation, but I find lately that even the smallest stray hair that touches my face or forehead causes extreme itching.  I am not at a point where I can go completely bald, so I have to wear my wig.  I don't use benadryl or anything like that, but this itch seems to be getting worse in the past year or so.  I welcome any ideas you have.

I have had AU since I am 9 I am now 30. I have always had seasonal allergies but as I am getting older I am developing food allergies but not your common food allergies. I have become allergic to certain fruits and nuts. If the fruit or nut is processed or cooked they don't bother me. I am guessing it is more an allergy to pesticides or what ever is sprayed on foods to keep bugs off or keep them fresh. Anyone else experience the something?

Ive had areata since I was 13 and am now 36. Ive lately become allergic to pollen, dust, a few trees, mod, hair dye and a few antibiotic. Don't really think it has to do with areata but it may.

Hi All!

I have asthma and I am allergic to cats, dust, and pollen. All are adult onset and I had them before I lost my hair. Does anyone here have other auto immune disorders?

I have allergies that I've only discovered in the past year. I've had many surgeries all my life and now all of a sudden I'm allergic to surgical tape and pain killers. The tape literally melted my skin and the med made me feel like I had a severe case of the fleas so they gave me allergy pills to take with the pain meds. I also cannot contend with the smell of different chemicals now, which is a good thing. I'm not able to clean with anything except mostly vinegar and soda now.

I have many allergies, asthma too. Strangely, I'm allergic to some wigs. Eyes water, nose and sinuses dry out. Esp cheap wigs. Weird. I usually go wigless anyway.

Hello, I am new to  this canadian site. I have developed allergies in the past approx. year and a half. I've had to have many surgeries over the years and now all of a sudden I'm allergic to some pain drugs and surgical tapes which melt my skin,  lovely huh. It could be so much worse though. I count my blessings.
