Hello Everyone, Not only do I suffer from Alopecia, I just discovered two yrs ago that I also suffer from Solar urticaria (I'm basically allergic to the sun). If I go out in direct sunlight, I burn, itch and break out in hives after about 3 mins of exposure. Not fun at all and I live in Florida and I love the sun!!! Urrrrggghhhh!!!!

My allergies are no trouble when there is a high pressure system
over my area. But when a low pressure system comes into town my
runny nose will not stop. Anyone else notice these changes with the weather?

Hey everyone. I suffer from hay fever, and atopic dermatitis, and allergic to dairy. I'm wandering if this has tied into my hairloss. I've been told, by my hairdresser, that my scalp is often reddish, like a mild rash.

This is Chandler's mom, Lisa. I read the blogs on here everyday, trying to learn something new and learning how everyone deals with this mysterious disease. Chandler is 10 years old and got a 2 inch patch about 5 months ago, 3-4 months later almost all of her hair was gone. We were totally shocked, in disbelief,confused, etc. We went to many different doctors and they all said the same thing, there is not much you can do about this. That part really amazed me. None of the doctors ever would try to think of something else, they would just say the same thing. I would be really impressed to find a doctor that said let's think about this disease and try to find a solution! Let's try a variety of things! Anyway, I can go on and on about the doctors in this country and how they do not explore or open their minds when confronted with a difficult disease.
Right when we found the 2 inch patch on Chandler's head, we investigated the disease ourselves. We stopped her allery shots, stopped her Singulair medication, reduced all stress, started taking hair vitamins and started applying Dithro-Scalp Cream (5%) and Clobetasol Propionate Foam (.05%).
After having alopecia for 5 months, her hair is growing back. The front of her head at the beginning of the hairline is still hairless but everywhere else, there is hair growth.
We are not going to get our hopes up yet. I have read that it can fall out again and usually does. But, so far, it has been growing for about a month and looking good. I just wanted to let everyone know and hopefully this can help someone. We will keep you posted.

I just discovered this! Cool. Allergies...not cool. *sigh* In addition to a gluten-intolerance I'm allergic to dairy products. For a while I was also off of eggs but I think it's okay now. Whew. Eliminates quite a bit from the food category, huh? I focus on eating a lot of fruit, veggies, nuts and anything from the meat group. I miss yogurt. So yogurt is NOT the same. Speaking of soy, I think it's been bothering me lately. Coconut based yogurt is pretty darn good, but pricey.

I have had problems with psoriasis since I was a teenager. The first time it appeared I was covered with it except for my hands and face. The patches on my arms and legs were the worst, grew into one big patch. I had to put a tar mixture on every night then wrap myself in saran wrap to sleep. If that hadnt worked I would have had to go into the hospital for hot tar treatments. Thankfully it did, and tho I have minor bouts of it every winter, it has never come back like that again. My oldest son also has problems with it, very severe on his joints. He also has all the allergies and male pattern baldness. My daughter has the allergies and thinning hair at 25 but no other skin problems. Middle son seems to have escaped everything but when he was a baby had very bad allergy to milk and milk products. No allergies and a full head of thick hair.

Hi to everybody ;)
i also didn't know until i made blood test..and im positiv on lot's of food...for example i do not eat eggs white , wheat , milk and lot's of other food...now it's two months without my favorit food but i have lot's of fuzzy white hair all over my head!and this is the first time in my life (i have alopecia since i was six) that i have little white hair ALL over my head ..i had better and worst period in my life with hair..but never ever had improvement on ALL HEAD at the same time!..
I read that if you have alopecia, which is associated with food sooner or later you will have problems with the skin in the form of psoriasis, or some kind dermatits, which i had last two years intesive ..now two months after i reduced forbiden food my skin problems disappear ;)

Not me, if it has fur, hair or feathers, Im allergic.
