I apologize to everyone and myself too for not being more proactive, or even active, with this group. I started it in a moment of frustration because there was no support group on here from Atlanta. I know there are many on here from the Atlanta area, but it seems like nobody's talking or doing anything.
I would like to change that. :)
I had an amazing experience yesterday ,participating in National Bald Out Day. I went to a yoga class with one of my favorite teachers, Tra,an empowered woman (pics are in my profile) then I dressed up and went to the Shakespeare Fest at Oglethorpe. There, I had the thought "What if you went bald and no one noticed?" Because thats what happened there. A few looked, but not in a bad "OMG, shes bald!" way, like I have gotten elsewhere. It wasnt until I asked someone to take my picture with my phone that I did any education.
The day was liberating, both from an acceptance of my baldness(my own acceptance and others)and on a personal level,as I discovered that inside me is this fearless female who knows what she wants and isnt too afraid to pursue it. :)
I also had the pleasure of meeting another woman with alopecia, Reginia. :) We had a great dinner and even more wonderful conversation. She is so comfortable with herself and her baldness. It was inspiring. I am definitely looking forward to the next time I see her. :) Don't conform, girl! You wouldnt be you if you did...;)
I would like for us-everyone here and those who join later- to plan real life get togethers, whether we go bald or wear whatevers comfortable, I want us to be a true support group for each other. We are all in this together, no reason we can't help each other out. :)
Thoughts anyone?
Christine
P.S. Thanks for joining my group!
