I was wondering if anyone can recommend a wig shop in Toronto that sells good quality, and reasonably priced wigs.

Michelle, have you accessed the Toronto support group :)
How can I join the Toronto group?
The Hair Prosthesis Centre at Glencarin and Bathurst has everything; real, synthetic, hand tied, lace front... all in different price ranges. Hope that helps!
I got my wig at Continental Hair in Yorkville. My wig is awesome - mono top, hand-tied - very good quality. It's pricey though, at least the one I got was. But I'm sure they have a range of prices depending on what you want. They'll do a free consultation. I had a good experience there. Here's their website: www.continentalhair.com
tawny..i saw them on the web.
i'm in montreal...there's a guy that does it here..i ordered a topper from him.
so...tell me about the material that the hair is on.... does it itch.
fill me in.......i'd love it.
thx ...
Continental is where I got mine and had it cut and ruined all in one day.......Not impressed with my $2500 road kill that I bought from them. I have never worn it....It was a human hair wig....Horrid.
I am new to this forum and hope I am navigating the discussions without big bloopers-I am an "older" woman and not so tech savvy. I would like to know more about a place to have a wig cut or styled in the Ottawa area. I share Lori's comments on the Merivale Road Place.

In Toronto I have been impressed by Allegria, and had heard good things about them, but wasn't able to order a European short pre cut wig, because they didn't have any in a version of blond, and they were very upfront is saying that that didn't want to dye a dark wig. I purchased a blond wig from a salon in Toronto that distributes the Onrite/Gemtress wigs-that was in Asian hair that had been dyed blond-its pretty good, but a real pain to get it cut in a layered short style in Ottawa.(finally). I find that buying a hh wig in blond colour is an extra challenge.

I am thinking that my next hh hair purchase will be in Brooklyn, at Iwig, whenever I can get there because I want someone who will provide me with a wig that is already cut short and layered and makes light density.

But in the meantime I would love to hear from anyone who has found a stylist in Ottawa area who will cut a wig at a reasonable price-because then I might be more adventuresome in my ordering.

I have not had any hair for many years, so don't know any stylists.
Hi Lori
I get my wigs form Continental as well, do you recall who cut your piece? They used to have a great cutter there named Lisa but she and Continental parted ways a number of years back and I've never really liked the replacement stylist they have there now. I need to replace my piece but I'm afraid to have it cut there!
I got mine at allegra and I'd say it's a bit cheaper than continental but still really good quality european human hair.
Some people like me, with AU, find keeping wigs on easier. On most mono top wigs now, there is a poly strip along the front-this sort of grips the head. If that doean't feel secure enough, the poly area can have double sided wig tape added. Some also add tape tabs to either the sides of the nape or the ear tabs, and again also use double sided tape.

But usually no tape is needed-just the gripping of the poly strip along the front, as well as adjusting the straps at the nape, will do the trick. Of course the wig cap must also fit-a loose too big cap is not good-so sometimes I take tucks in the cap to make it fit .
I think I was confusing you. When talking about tape I was referring to the cap of the actual wig. It needs to fit well all over in order to be stable. But I think you are talking about the fabric caps used to cover hair and going underneath the wig. I'm sorry to hear that your scalp is so sensitive-I know others also have that problem. On the Internet site Namebrandwigs there are 3 versions of caps to go under the wig-one cotton, one nylon and one fish net. There is also something called the "comfy gripper" so maybe keep trying other options.
THE HAIR PROSTHESIS ALL THE WAY!! They are on Glencairn off of Bathurst. I'm 41 and have been all over. Its nice when someone really CARES and not only trying to sell u a wig...........she's great!! Juliette is the greatest and has a heart and compassion to see all of us alopecians happy and at peace with ourselves and our hair when we leave the salon........
