I love trying colors that Ive never worn before. I have a few black ones with different color chunks, like red and copper. I would never have dyed my hair that color but they are fun! I even have a purple one to wear when Im horse back riding, it matches my saddle pad!

In the summer its to hot to wear wigs so as I said I do scarves or nothing. Ive also put temp tattoos on my head! My favorite was the big rose and hummingbird.

Think of your bald head as a new place for accessories!! :)

Melissa,

I've bought eBay (from China) wigs, like Pam and they are all fun and not too serious. I had to buy a couple of wigs to wear for performing as a singer and needed something more 'realistic'. I usually go bald (even for performance) but for corporate work needed something better. There are a few good options in Vancouver where you can make an appointment and shop within your price range and privately. I recommend Eva & Co. on Broadway.
If you want someone to go with you & you don't know anyone down here - I would be happy to go with you. (I could use a new one, too!)

Cheers & hope this was helpful!

Hi Melissa,
I'm living in Lake Country, outside Kelowna, BC. I've had AU since I was 15 and have always worn wigs. At the beginning I had them made but I lived in Vancouver, as there are more options in the big city. Now I order them online, at Wigs.com, always the Raquel Welch line, as the colors can be highlighted, therefore the color doesn't look flat. I order one about 2-3 times a year, as heat makes the synthetic fibers after time become frayed/rough, and it can become hot here, doesn't it? You do have the option of human hair, but I dont' have the patience for curling etc anymore.

I hope I've been able to help,
Sabina

Hi Melissa

Being from Winnipeg area, in the winter I have to wear wigs for warmth. In the summer I just wear scarves. I have bought wigs from a salon in Winnipeg and online. The difference is the price. In the salon I pay around $400.00 each, online Ive paid as little as $11.00, with the highest being around the $50.00 mark. I only wear a wig when I go out somewhere so not alot. The good thing about the cheaper ones is that I can have alot more, and I have many! All of the online ones were bought on Ebay, most straight from China. I love them all! I have colors and styles that I could never do with my own whimpy hair (when I had it). Its fun trying different stuff. If any arrive and I hate them on me, I donate them to Cancer Care. The only thing I can warn you about is if you are buying from China, only buy the wigs that are on fake heads. If they are on a person, they have stolen the picture from an online site and, in my experience, rarely looks like the one in the picture. Overall buying that way has been a good experience and I dont feel ripped off like I do with the three expensive salon wigs Ive bought. The cheap ones wont last as long but when they start looking rough, throw them out and order a new one! Have fun with it! Its our payment back for being bald LOL

No never online, sorry. But I know that at least one of the advertisers here on Alopecia World has affiliates here in BC.

Hi Chris,

I am in Kamloops. But as there are no stores here to purchase at I will likely have to travel out of town. Do you have a store or stores that you are comfortable with? Have you ever purchased a wig online?

I agree Cheryl now that I have become more serious I need to do some research and get some opinions on where to purchase. I may need to travel to a bigger center to find one that best suits me.

Hey Melissa,
What part of BC? If you are in the Greater Vancouver area I can make a couple of suggestions where you can get wigs.
