Hi fellow Canadians,

I live in the Okanagan, British Columbia. I have had Alopecia since 15 years old. I have never met anyone else. Good to know that there are others out there.
I moved from Vancouver, and I didn't know there was a support group there. Wish I would have know.

Hi Jenifer,

Sorry to hear your news. I live in Nelson but sometimes wish I lived in Vancouver so I could meet up and chat with others with AA. I looked up a Vancouver support group - have thought maybe some time I'll make a trip and attend. Anyhow, the contact is:
Alopecia Areata Support Group
835 West 10th Avenue
Vancouver, BC Canada

Phone Number: 604-261-2795

Anyone out there from Vancouver? Having an especially tough time - it's been exactly one year and my husband has decided to leave....feeling a lot of pain today...I know I'll get through this, just need a little support.

Alberta here...Its lonely out there. I don't know a single person that has scarring alopecia .. well at least in person.

Anyways, I've started an online support group for people with scalp diseases. Join if you wish ..

Best Regards,

Seems like when I meet someone from here with AU they offer to help with the group then disappear. I have had emails to the group I started, and again they all disappeared. Are we REALLY afraid to meet others? Its not fair to my daughter who wants nothing more in the world than to meet other kids her age, and it feels like they all live way too far away. :-( Hopefully this group gets going, I even founf a local paper called "Winnipeg Parent NewsMagazine" that the editor had Alopecia when she was 12!!! She is writing a story for me and advertising my group, HOPEFULLY after this SOMEONE won't be afraid to join the group!!!

I have tried starting it on my own. I have been working with dermatology offices, a wig store owner, The Mom Show... I will get there, including community newspapers, manitoba newpapers and TV News shows.

You don’t need to go through NAAF to start a support group you can just do it if you want. I’m running my first one in March for the Simcoe county area! I didn’t register through NAAF because it’s a states orientated organization and hopefully in the near future we can get a Canadian one.
Myself and several others met in Toronto, Ontario over the weekend to establish a board and to begin the process of getting a Canadian Based charitable organization. It would be similar to NAAF but for Canadians!!! It would be based out of Toronto but hopefully be able to reach out to all Canadians 
