Most of the time I don't even notice, but when I do...I don't know what to feel! Lots of the time I'm happy and other times I can get mad when people tell their kids to stay away from me. but in the end, God has a plan.

Hi I'm Hallie =) I'm 12 years old so I'm propbably not as "in" as you guys and I'm sorry If my mixed feelings discussion goes against being happy....I could'nt find anywhere else to put it!

I think we all have mixed feelings regarding our alopecia.
Pros I've met so many wonderful people because of it and have become a stronger person.
Cons I lost a part of my identity and it takes some work to get that back.
But then doesn't everything take work...

Hi Hallie, I think mixed feelings are part of struggling with something like alopecia. I know I am fine with my alopecia, but every once is a while I will feel envious of the African American "Natural Hair" crowd, that I know I would be part of if I had hair. In fact, I even went to a Natural Hair Conference in Detroit. I feel that right now my alopecia is my "Natural Hair" statement. But I will admit while viewing the "Natural Hair" Fashion show, it really had me thinking... that if ever I grow my hair back that is what I will do with it.

Yup, that's me in the back sticking out like a sore thumb ;)

Lots of the time, people think of mixed feelings as mostly bad, but I think that over all, we sould control our mixed feelings and look at the glass as half full. And so far, id have to say that my hair is doing very well but considering every time it comes back, it goes away in the fall, I hope it stays for good, and I think it will because it has stayed for agood year and a half with no visible spots!
