I recently posted two videos from a Balkan music camp I went to in June...you can see me in the middle of the frame drummers (the small white tambourine-looking drums), wearing a black head scarf. Here's one of the two videos:

FYI - I just uploaded a track from my band (I'm the vocalist) to my page under "my music". This is what I do since Alopecia stopped running my life!

What a mad page :)

I sing, play piano and classical trumpet (I'm in the schools swing band too, but I dont love jazz so much). I teach trumpet too - to some of the most amazing littlies :).
I've recently started composing a little too - musical comedy-Tim Minchin style stuff. Lots of fun. I wrote a very serious piece for my music class the other day and am loving being able to use my alopecia experiences to inform my lyrics (my lyrics are always nicer than my fairly basic music).

I love art and drawing, but am very bad at it :P and am too much of a perfectionist.

I'm performing on Sunday, August 8 in San Diego, if any of you are going to be in the area. The event is an art reception for my husband's photography from Antarctica. So, if you like penguins, free wine and refreshments, and some hot Balkan (Greek, Bulgarian, Albanian, Gypsy....)music, come on down! Gallery 21 in Spanish Village in Balboa Park, 2-5pm. Send me a message or go to www.stevegouldphotography.com if you want more info. Mary

I'm performing with my Balkan band, Eastern Exposure, on Saturday, July 17. It's the night of International Alopecia Day, so I'm hoping that a few Alopecians who've come to the San Diego event will attend.

I just spent a week in Mendocino at a Balkan Music and Dance camp, drumming and dancing.

And Tallgirl, I DO know how to polka, and I can play belly dance rhythms on my doumbek!

Well, I'm not musically inclined like most of you talented young folk—but my mother and I did sing "Caissons Go Rolling Along" on the 4th—even though it was for the wrong era! Haaaaa. Can't make music, but I can draw.
