I had some issues and deleted my account to recreate it but didn't realise it would wipe the old NZ support discussion. Sorry my bad.

Soon I will have the alopecianz website going (Got hit bad in Feb 22 here so I had to put it on hold for some time), when it is up I'll post here.

Can you guys help me please. If there was a symbol that would represent Alopecia in NZ what would you think it would be ? This is for a website, I need an image or symbol of some type. I thought about possibly a flower, or something positive like that as it denotes life and vibrance but I need some ideas as Im not that creative :)
Hi Paul,

For me, the hardest thing about Alopecia was accepting the change and the unknown. While my hair was going through the initial stage of falling out, I had a tattoo done of a vibrant Monarch butterfly. It represents a couple of things for me personally, one of them being 'change is okay'. Although the monarch is a fragile being, it's gone through quite a tough process! Changing from a caterpillar, to a Chrysalis and then to a butterfly. Change can be create stunning beauty and strong spirit :)

Looking forward to reading about other people's ideas, thoughts and brainstorms!
Nice -

This is the draft site http://www.loadspeed.com/sites/jacko/.

I asked around on facebook and I then had a brainwave (Yes such a rare thing for me :) and I thought of the koru and its symbolizing of new life, growth, strength and peace. But I plan to have a kids page and I think the Monarch would be wonderful imagery for that - thanks Holly.

A lot of the information is cut\paste and need tidying up, some of the links havent been updated yet (Bottom links, info, about me, contacts etc) but I wanted to just get some raw info into the site first and see how it looked. There is also so much more info I can add to it and anything else people think should be there let me know as I im open to any criticism or comments. In the next few days well get it up on www.alopecianz.co.nz and it shouod be out there for everyone to see.

Cheers

Hi Paul,

I had a squiz at the draft site -- bigs ups! You've done a great job :) I particulary like the section on Government Assistance. It's one of those 'if you don't ask, you don't get' sort of things a ... I would've been none the wiser if it wasn't for my wig-lady who explained it all for me.

Anyway, thanks heaps for getting the site underway. I'm sure it's going to be a huge help for Kiwis searching for details about Alopecia.

Cheers,

Holly

PS. I'm loving the koru, it looks great!
Cheers !

It surprising how much info you need to make a site. We did the initial draft and then when I rechecked I needed to add another 4 A4 pages of stuff.
