I am new to social networking so wasn't sure how to answer the kind thoughts that you expressed to me about my son. It helps tremendously to hear how other parents help support their children and help them with acceptance and living life with this very tough disorder. My son and his friends got together this summer and suggested that he get a wig to go back to school with. It really helped break the ice about this (because I wasn't sure if I should bring it up and he might think I don't think he is beautiful just as he is). He has handled it really well and I think it is a comfort to him to not "stand out" in the crowd and have to answer questions about whether he has cancer or not. Today I am taking him to get his senior picture taken for the yearbook with the wig. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as I try not to let my worries affect him. Thank God he has good buddies and is also motivated in school this year and I am very grateful for that.

My daughter is 4.5 and has had AA since she was 2.5. Almost all of her hair on her head has fallen out. We no longer put anytihing onit. It just doesn't work. She is reall starting noticing and wanting hair. We have a wig and she wears it some times. all of her class know about her hairloss and are good about it for the most part. Her teacher really helps. I can't even begin to identify with having a teenanger with this. good luck
