My son and I are moving to Colorado springs this school year to join his dad, who has been there for a year and a half now.  My son has alopecia, and naturally I was concerned.  Both times he's gone bald, it's been in the middle of a school year among kids who already knew him.  This time he's showing up in a new city (heck, new state) at a new school with absolutely no kids he knows, and he's starting out mostly bald.

We naturally contacted the school to explain the situation, and when the principal returned our call, we were told that there are actually TWO kids at the school who have it!  I'm so happy to know this.  I'm really really hopeful this means that the transition will go smoothly.

I was wondering if the parents or kids might be on alopecia world, and/or if someone here could hook me up with them?  I would love to meet and talk about their experiences so I can get a better idea of what to expect, and I would super love to introduce my son to them before the school year actually starts.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.  Please feel free to cross post, cut and paste, whatever!!!!

Hello Sara.

I noticed it has been quite a while since you posted; just wondering how things are going for your son at Middle School? I too have a son who just started grade 6 at a new school and we have had to inform everyone all over again. We actually moved to Canada from the U.S. almost 2 years ago, so we understand about having to start new as well.

My son and I are going to spring in Colorado this school year to start his father, who has been there for a year and a half now. My son has alopecia, and naturally I worry. He can write for bestessays. By the time both were over, he had been in the middle of school year among the children he had already known.
