Let me start this one off. : ) This is how I feel inclined to respond, with my own form of honesty.

What works well for me physically is to treat my bald head with the same respect and care, with which I treat the rest of my body. So I acknowledge it, look it straight on in the mirror, let it see sunshine and air. I choose to wear a hat, bandana, or nothing, depending upon the circumstance, because that feels best for me.

Having lost my hair at 14 (slow fall, over years), I have not chosen any form of treatment since I was around 16. Like many, I found treatment unsuccessful and frustrating. When I finally started losing my eyebrows in my 20s, I did choose a few localized treatments, but eventually chose the same path as with my head, which was to let my body open to the change that was taking place.

For years the above was not true, despite wearing a hat or bandana, in that while accepting that I had lost my hair, my actions in caring for my head and body, were more ones of tolerance.

I think my philosophy now is very much cyclical, in terms of how I approach the whole of me.

Since Sept 2010 I've been on the Primal diet. Lots of veggies, meat, and fats. Just cut out wheat, potatoes, corn, and grains in general. Occasional rice and quinoa ok. Squashes and sweet potatoes are totally fine. I've had regrowth since starting the Primal diet. It's slow but happening. Right I have about 40% of my head covered with hair. Not super dense hair, but healthy looking hair.

The reason why I chose Primal diet is because I think it's a healthy diet with our without alopecia. The lectin in foods such as grains can worsen leaky gut and affect autoimmune conditions. The diet helps the gut lining heal, maintains blood sugar level, and reduces inflammation. It's an anti-inflammatory diet that benefits many other conditions such as RA, diabetes and candida, and helps with weight loss if weight is an issue.

I've also learned that parasites can be responsible for autoimmune diseases. Candida, for example, may adhere onto cells, causing the body to attack those cells. More of a theory, but has potential of being correct. Basing on my white-coated tongue (not all day, but certain times during the day) and other symptoms, I'm quite certain I do have candida, and I treat it with probiotics and Candida Clear.

iherb.com is a good place to buy supplements at good prices.

I've had alopecia for a long time, and I still look for cures / remedies every now and again. Part of me definitely wants the hair back, but part of me is ok with it and not overdoing and obsessing over the treatments :)

I do eyebrow/ eyeliner tattoos and i would like to offer my services for a drastic dicounted price so i can help out people who are in need of my expertise without ripping their pockets out and give a little bit more confidence and would make me happy i made a difference in their life even just a little. Consultation is always free! Please spread the word...
