I just got my Gripper and I love it but I am wondering if there are any of you out there who have had their Grippers for at least 6 months. I just want to know how it is holding up? I love how quickly I got mine, and the hair is very nice but I am wondering how it holds up over some amount of time and wear. Thanks!

Hi there! I'm curious as to what you think of your Gripper. I'm getting one - still waiting - but already own the Freedom Wig and adore it - so anxious to hear if your piece is what you had hoped?!

I like my Gripper, but even though I paid for extra hair, the wefts in the back are quite thin. Also the quality of the hair is nowhere near as luxurious as the hair in my freedom wigs that are now over ten years old. Overall, I think the Gripper is nice. It looks natural and it does what I need it to do (ie, let air circulate and still stay on while I'm dancing), but for the price, the hair and construction is not as nice as I expected. The original price was decent for what I got; however, I paid over a thousand dollars extra for a custom color and extra hair. I don't think the value for the extra cost is there. Don't get me wrong...I like the hair and it is comfortable. I just think what I got was a bit over priced.

Thanks Lori - I so appreciate hearing from you! I just rec'd mine (lonnnnnggggg wait - over 5 months) and the hair is pretty. The fit is wierd so I'm unsure if I'm just putting it on wrong or not pulled forward enough? Any suggestions? I don't remember how much hair I asked for vs what I received.
I adore my Freedom wigs - Loved them so much I became a rep! I still wanted a Gripper to see what it was like and to have an option (I mean, why not have options :) - so - I'm looking forward to getting it cut and styled and wearing it.
Have you called your rep yet to tell them that the thickness was not there for you? Follea has taken them over but I think you'll still deal with the same rep?
Best wishes - talk again soon. :) Rebecca

The fit of the Gripper is very different from the vac wig, which sits above the occipital bone. I place the front hairline about four fingers above my browbone. I ordered the ultra petite cap and the fit is perfect. I just wish the stitched rows in the back weren't so thin!

I ordered the same size - it's fitting a bit wierd. Good to hear you got yours as well considering what's happening at PK.
I'm going to keep trying the fit. Also, how did your styling turn out?

Talk soon :)
Rebecca

i heard from that they merged together Follea and Peggy?

Hi Rebecca,

I'm new to this forum. I don't know if I should get a gripper of a Freedom Wig, do you like one better than the other please? Thanks very much. Lynn

Hi Tico! Welcome lovely!
I have 2 freedoms - so unbelievably in love with them. I ordered the Gripper to see the difference and to have something different to wear so I wouldn't wear "out" my FW - I got the wig from PK - then had to send it back. The quality is truly not there with the hair - for the price - the fit is just like a fit with a regular $100 wig - except for the silicone on the sides. I sent mine back so they would put more hair in the back as you can see the back wefting when there was a slight breeze. Overall - I cannot give a fair assessment - I love the FW - it fits me amazingly well and after I put it on - I feel like I'm back to ME again. I sell Real Estate so sitting in the car and adjusting my wig - frightened of it blowing off when I was opening a lockbox or fitting a sign - I just could not DEAL with that - now...It's like I have always been..confident and happy and completely unaware that I have a wig on.

Thank you very much, that is so helpful to me! Tico

Hi Lilah. I got mine in July--several months after you posted this. How has yours been holding up? I'm not really sure it's better than a vacuum piece although I like how light and breathable its been. What are your thoughts? Also, it took me months and months to get mine and I wasn't pleased with the customer service.

Hi Aimee. I don't find the Gripper as comfortable as a well-fitted vacuum piece, but it is cooler and more comfortable than a synthetic. Of course, it is considerably more expensive, too. In fact, my Gripper wound up costing what the much more luxurious vacuum pieces cost me back in the 1990s. Now that I'm done with the hot flashes and other delights of aging, I think I will return to the vacuum world for my next expensive piece. In the interim, I've been stretching out the life of my Gripper and the last bits of life left in my silicone wig by wearing some less expensive synthetic kids wigs by Amore that fit really well, Miley fora long, straight style, and Logan for a short style (swimming, gym, Zumba). I buy them when wigs.com sends a 25-30% coupon. Since you wear a petite stle, you might want to try them for something different. They are "ultra petite" and fit my peanut head like a glove lol

I currently have a Freedom and have been thinking about a Gripper. I am so anxious about the wefting and how it would hold up to every day - all day wear; especially outside in the breeze/wind. Thanks for all the comments! It is helping me with making up my mind. With these kinds of costs - it is an expensive mistake to not be completely happy with what you get. I had customer service issues with Peggy Knight previously and am uneasy to open that door again.
