Hi Carolyn. I've always used canvas wig blocks from theater supply companies. They're much sturdier than the foam ones and much less creepy than the plastic Barbie ones! I usually get a short neck 19" block for my hair from the Manhattan Wardrobe Company. Here's a link:

Hope that helps!

Hi, Carolyn,
I don't have a freedom wig, but I find that it's not practical to keep your wig on the canvas block. It gets oily and the wig does not breathe after a full day wear. Then both the block and the wig smell.
I store my 2 wigs on simple plastic cross stands, and if I transport them, I pin them to the styrofoam ones or to the canvas block. But again, mine are not freedom wigs.

I agree with Ellen for non-vacuum pieces. But with a vacuum piece with a base that gets washed and wiped out nightly (and one that I would NOT pin--I don't think this is even possible with a vacuum piece), it has been my experience that the canvas blocks are the best. I have been wearing vacuum wigs for 20 years and have not had any experience with the canvas block getting gross/smelly. But if you don't clean out your Freedom hair base daily, I imagine that the canvas base option wouldn't be ideal.
