well I have had alopecia for over 25 years and have walked proudly bald. I was a hairdresser before i got the disease. Business fell off after that hee hee...and I concentrated on raising my children , and got tattoos instead of a new hairstyle every year. I have recently gotten divorced and find that different is no longer fitting into my plans . So in order to conform I will start to where wigs .
HI Lorena, I wanted to welcome you to Alopecia World. I can honestly say that we are a great community here and I hope you enjoy the time you spend with us. Cheryl, co-founder
Hi Lorena,
I've had au for about 20 years. How are you doing? Don't feel bad about wearing a wig. It's fine to want to blend in, and it's fun to have hair, even if it's not growing out of your scalp!
Hugs, LeslieAnn
Thanks for sharing your story with me. I have been thinking about getting a tattoo. I have decided it would be a celtic knot. My husband is perplexed at this desire. So much changed for me in the last few years and I know that it is for the best. Sometimes change is good. It helps you to grow. Drop me a line sometimes. ~Danna
I think as mothers, we need to be happy. It is not easy to be happy when others keep pointing out how different we are. To wear a wig or not is such a personal thing. I wear a wig because I feel more attractive in it. I do it for me and no one else. So do what feels right and don't feel guilty either way.
Hi Sadie. I am Pam and just started a support group for AA. The next meeting is Tuesday August 12th for 5:30 to 7:00. It is at the dupont resource center. I would love to see you. Email me if you need directions. Pam
Hello. Thank you for the great welcome! I do love having my eyebrows tattooed on. I had them done twice. I grew up in a tattoo shop...my mom owned it and well now my cousin does. It makes it easy to go and express what I need and want. So I understand about how nice it is to have a tattoo artist in the family like your sister. Isn't it great?
Hi Lorena,
I wanted to stop by and tell you how much I love your tattoos. I too, did the tattoo thing instead of wigs. I have 22 on my head and I'm just starting on the rest of my body. I have 5 already!! The tats are like therapy aren't they??? Here's to my fellow Alopecian who celebrates being different!!! I'm so glad that you have found happiness. There's nothing in this world better than having a good man by your side....."Forever and Ever, Amen!!!"
Love and Hugs,

Hi Lorena, thanks for the compliment. My headscarf is called a BeauBeau and you can see them listed on www.4women.com
A fellow Alopecian owns this company based in the USA. There are like 60+ fabrics to choose from and there is no tying of the fabric involved! She has designed the headscarves so that you can literally place it on your head and go. There is an elastic built in and you can wear them 4-6 different ways. Be sure to check them out, and tell them Orbit sent you! :-) Have a great day!

Please forgive me. I've been off of the site for a couple of months and was pleasantly surprised to see a South Bend comment. Are you still trying to use wigs? They're definitely not my preference. Talk to you again soon. Peace.
