I lost every hair on my head in august of 2008. I am a fem lesbian & It has been extremly hard for me like everyone else. My hair has grown back - it is very short, but it is there. I have little bald spots on my head still, but nothing that anyone could see, although my hair is very white which I have 2 color constantly. I have fun with it now and go the range in colors. I have learned that ur hair doesn't define who u r, nor bring u happiness.
Sorry I didn't post sooner. I just joined this site yesterday. SO I am also a newbie :)!! I also wanted to acknowledge that YOU ARE NOT ALONE in your feelings!! I am having a terrible time dealing with this AGAIN!! I lost my hair, grew it all back and now I am losing it AGAIN!! I honestly don't know which time is/was worse!! I have much in my life to be thankful for ... but right now, with every hair that falls out, I just die a little inside! Yes, I KNOW I am alienating myself by choice!! But, I feel SO heartbroken!!
However, if I can help you, it HELPS me!! I have a HUGE network of women through my BeautiControl business and I would LOVE to help you find someone dealing with AA in your area that can help you with your wig and makeup, skincare and STRESS!! Please let me know if you are interested. Hang in there!! We WILL get through this TOGETHER! Take Care!

Hi Jenn, for you, it is all so new, I've been dealing with it for 43 years. You will eventually come to grips with it, family support is the key, it will be a journey, I will walk with you when you need me to! Take care, stay blessed!
Hi Jenn, I wanted to welcome you to Alopecia World. I can honestly say that we are a great community here and I hope you enjoy the time you spend with us and we look forward to your input. Cheryl, co-founder
It really is horrible when you first discover you have Alopecia and the time when it is all falling out is awful. You will accept the condition after a while and you will then feel better.
You definitely did the right thing by shaving the rest of your hair off. When I did it, it was the most liberating experience imaginable.
I'm glad that you like my home page. I hope that my pics showing my progression of Alopecia can help others.
You will be fine sooner than you think. Once you have acceptance you can get on with your life. Everyone has a problem to start with and then they find that they just have to live their life and enjoy it.
Hi Jenn,
I know how hard it is! I have had alopecia for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" It might make you feel better about everything. Check it out on my page -- and WELCOME!

Oh Jenn, are you feeling any better? I just read your blog and I completely understand. That's my pic with hair as well. It's been slowly falling out for months but for the last few weeks, it has been falling out ferociously. I actually had a wig fitting this morning which went horribly...the synthetic wigs were just so obvious and the human hair wigs did not fit right. At this point I don't know what to do...well maybe just stay in bed forever.
I'm a tattoo person too, but I don't know of a symbol. Awesome head tatttoos are kind of symbolic of alopecians I guess. Enjoy your day. I better get to packing (see my latest blog lol)
XOXO

Hi Jenn, thanks for the message! It IS extremely hard and I give credit to those who go without wigs! I am not that comfortable yet and would feel too exposed. I actually bought a wig today that I am kinda happy with, I think it looks a bit wiggy but my husband disagrees. I will try to get a pic up soon. take care
I'm having the same problem except mine feels like it's riding back and you could see the hair line in the front. The salon I went to gave me double sided tapy for wigs. maybe you could try that. let me know how it works out.
