Hi Becky,
Yes, I lost all my hair, all over my body! I've worn wigs for 20 years. It took me awhile to find some good ones, and I have a regular "wig wardrobe" now. Now no one can tell that I don't have any hair! As far as whether the rest of your hair will fall out, that's something no one can predict. I had patches for 10 years and then lost it all. Some people get regrowth and it stays in, some people don't -- you just don't know. We have to do the best with what we have -- what about hair extensions? Have you tried that to cover the patches? Do you have your eyelashes and eyebrows?

No, I don't think so at all. I really think the wig looks cute. All you need to be pretty is confidence. As long as you are happy and comfortable, it will show through and you will shine. ;o)

Hmmm...that's interesting. I hadn't heard anything like that before about the different foods. I'll have to look into that. I am glad we met, too! I started a Chicagoland group on here - you should join the group. I'm hoping a bunch of people from Chicagoland will join the group so we can get together and have meetings and fun events and stuff together. Hey Becky, I know this is Carly's mom, she is on her way toa school dance ,i cant wait till she sees your page she is 12 too---and has been wearing a wig for 5 months-- you two HAVE to chat! In Feb she shaved her head, and it did get better after that not to watch all the hair fall out. Dont feel alone, Carly does too sometimes, all of her friends know and a lot of kids at school too but she has hard days too, us tryin to tape on her wig etc.....

Carly's going to hassle me for being on her page but.... can i ask what kind of cap you have on your wig? carly has a polyurathane base we tape on she is into alot of sports and even the tough tape doesnt always stick we live on a lake and we do have some waterproof tape but i wonder how good it will work for say waterskiing. I think we will have to get a vaccum wig soon, any guidence would be appreciated we are still kina new to this... Ok I will leave the conversation to you and carly after this and go back to my own page.

I was scared to wear my wig at first so I started out wearing it at weekends and eventually took the plunge into wearing it full time and too work it wasn’t half as bad as I was expecting.

hey, i don't think that everyone with alopecia will lose all of their hair. all of mine fell out in about 3 weeks when i was 14. but, alopecia act differently with everyone. hang in there. your wig looks great by the way!

Your wig looks really good. I had it really bad when I was little too, but then it got better. Now, its bad again. But it always seems to grow back,so don't worry, the wig is really cute!

and i have aim and my name is carlytreehugger- I just had a 6th grade dance ummm- 2 days ago- and i wore my wig- it was really funn! =) Do you have year round school or do you get off for summer- we get off June 12th YAY! Does your friends know about your alopecia or not- all of my close friends know- but then one of my "friends" told everyone about my hair and i never wanted to go to school again-but i did obviously- I live in wisconsin so we are pretty close- I live on Lake Winnebago- if you know where that is- And right now it is REALLY rough out but soon we can go swimming

BTW...your wig is absolutely beautiful. From your pics, it looks almost identical to your real hair. Where did you get it? It's a matter of time before I will most likely need one. I also leave in Illinois and I am teacher. My hats can only do so much!

Thanks for the comment, Becky! How ya been girl? You are absolutely right! Alopecia is not the end of the world at all. In fact...I'm loving it! With my wigs I have better "hair" no than I ever did! LOL. I would have never been able to pull off this style with my real hair. I just love being able to express myself with hair as easily as I could with clothes. I just put whatever I want on my head that day to express myself. Short hair, long hair, no hair, bandanas...I love it!!

LOL - Lil Geo!! LOVE IT. You're too clever. Glad to hear you're enjoying your summer - I am for the most part too, but it's been HOT here and my landlord is cheap and a liar, so it's pretty unbearable in the house. If I planned on staying in Oregon I'd just buy a house and not deal with that ... but I'm out of here in two more years so why bother with the pain in the neck of selling it later?? Love the new pictures by the way, you take awesome pictures - I wish the camera liked me like that. LOL
